Woven Time - Esmé Hofman and fine weaving

This exhibition focuses on Esmé Hofman’s fine weaving – a rare and sophisticated weaving
craft with roots in an ancient tradition. By carefully splitting and planing willow rods, she crea-
tes a material with an almost textile-like appearance, which she uses to create objects that are
both historical and contemporary.

Her work moves between history and innovation. She creates replicas of museum pieces with
overall respect for traditional techniques, but also transfers the craft into free forms, sculptures
and design objects. The exhibition thus shows that the past is not only a basic, but also an inspi-
ration for the future.
